Firstly july was a record month totalling 73k profits.
This could be a little out, maybe up to 5k, as the pokerstars update has messed with my database and i can't get my sums to add up - 29k cash from 51 k hands. Most of the work here was done in the first 2 weeks, but after i hit a couple of nice wins in the donkaments, the lazy side took over and i slacked off. i only played maybe 6 hours of poker total for the last 2 weeks- 40k profits from donkaments, and 3k rakeback, totalling 72k
My main aim of these monthly reviews is to chart progress my progress in cash poker, and to help analyse my game and plug any leaks. Its not good reading, but it forces me to analyse stuff.
The following figures start from jan 08 through to aug 1st, exactly 6 months.
hands profit
jan 28k 7k
feb 28k 10k
mar 49k 35k
apr 51k 22k
may 30k 19k
jun 53k 36k
jul 51k 29k
total of 290k hands and 158k profits
Work ethic, i am now playing 9 tables, which im comfortable with, and i dont plan to increase this. Anything more than 9, and i make some terrible mistakes, mainly min misclicking which has cost me bigtime, especially one hand where i did it with 42off and proceeded to compound the error getting fancy and lost 2k . Another 300k hands is the target for the last 6 months, which means 25-30 hours a week approx (i think )
JULY CASH ANALYSIS.
My main leak is not winning in non showdown pots. Although i have a really high won at shown %, i need to work on this. So this month i was pleased to break even here. So thats 2 months of breaking even now
Pokertracker.
I played 20/15, slightly tighter than last months 22/15, still winning 52% at showndown, which is consistant, with a total aggression factor of 2.47, the only significant change was .5 more flop aggression. A 2% increase in wonwhensawflop% happened as a result of this, so im going to make a conscious effort to bet more flops in August i think and push this a little harder. No change in att to steal blinds% which is constant at 30%

all in luck. slightly above expectation at +1800. After 2 months running over i am surely due a losing month on this stat for sure.
Ev. running spot on here
finally, i this is my most recent database at purely 5/10, which is only from may 1st as i lost my database, but i thought it would be useful to seperate this

Plus 6 months of Mtts....
full tilt +6k
pokerstars -1k
Ipoker +30k ( not databased as not on opr yet)
total +35k mtts over small sample, ie only sundays
plus est rakeback of 12k, which should improve for the last 6 months, as i now have better rakeback deals insitu, and im playing more hands, and higher stakes than i was in jan and feb this year.
So 200k top line revenue to august 1st, give or take maybe 5k for databasing errors.
I am extremely pleased with these results, the 1st 6 months have way exceeded my expectations considering im a newb cash player. If i earn $50k for the remainder of the year then i will be satisfied, although "the higher your expectations the greater your achievements". I was once told that if all you want in life is to own a chip shop then that is all you are likely to have, whereas if you want 10 chip shops, you might not achieve this target, but you will likely fair better then with the first thought process.
so lets go for 2 bajillion in the last 6 months. Bring it on

Apparently. It look like good ole gordons introducing a toilet tax. Incredible. What if you havn't got 30p and you need to go, I suppose you gotta do it in your pants and pretend you spilt a drink, or you got a lion bar in your pocket. Gordon, its time to pack yer bags fella, off you pop.
On topic, well its been an eventful and embarrassing week. Thursday was the blue square 10k sng. Myself and Kim arrived at the infamous Vic casino at 7ish, with the competition starting at 8pm. Mike Butlin from blue blue sq kindly offered a free bar for the players, so representing the chav northwest goodstyle, i proceeded to have 7 double JDs'n coke in less than 60 mins. Then the tourney started. Gobby, loud, drunk, it was no great surprise i exited a poor 7th. Amazingly, not on a donk play. Standard bb reshove to button raise, my ak off not good enough v karl Karl Mahrenholzs' aces. meh
You know when you get so steaming, it happens to me about once a year, that maybe you wake up in a shop window, or puke in your bed etc, well this was THAT night. I had a debate with a poker friend of mine, Mike Eliss, of whether tinternet donks were better than live players. I put up a sophisticated arguement, "internet players are miles better, because, slur slur, well they play more hands, and slur slur, they just are alright!"
mike pointed out that all internet players come to the vic giving it the mr big shot, and all of them lose. So 20 JDs' later ill show them right? Ill play the cash game here.....
Cue withdrawing a grand and sitting in the £5/10 FR game. Interesting that it was uncapped, which throws up some strategic changes for those who buy in deep. I bought in for 100bbs, in order to stay in my comfort zone. For example neil channing was there and i think he bought in for around 15k, played any 2 cards v other deep stacks, and about 80vpip. i thought it was time to argue with the dealer, then i got more drunk and my elbow was slipping off the table etc. 5 am, i was ready for bed, i had built up my stack to 1300 ish, and i play a 4 way pot from small blind with ace5cc, the flop 568, with 2 clubs on it. check check check to neil channing, who bets 200 into 200 pot, i re jam all in, he snap calls with 97 off, i dont improve, and so i go home with my tail between my legs. You can't get to fold a nut flush draw when im sober, so there absolutely no chance when im six to the wind
Another cocky internet kid/middle aged donk bites the dust 1k lighter. On your bike clarkatroid. This was the agonising train journey home
Not the prettiest site i can tell you
A days R & R then off to my m8 Basil Brushs' stag do at newcastle races on saturday. Drinking all day from 2pm through 4am. What a fantastic day out, the jordys are great fun and know how to throw a party. Rob was lucky several times not to get battered, but whats new. That little devil inside him is still there when he has a tipple. i was so ill the next day Eddie cabs had to drive us home. We are planning to go for a day out next year, hopefully in the pimped up escort.
Sunday night, 5.40pm and im having an internal arguement about whether or not to play the early sunday donkaments. i am totally and utterly knackered and hungover, i really wanted to just chill, but i ran really good last sunday so i thought id give it a shot and see if i could continue my current form. After a bit dozing off here and there before 8pm, i managed somehow, no idea how, another decent pull beating 1100 players to chop another mtt, regardezvous...

Ive not run well at all on pokerstars this year, so this was a nice surprise. We chopped this heads up, he had a slight chip lead for 17.2 k . Have not played a hand of online cash this week.
My running total for month is 75k, 30k from cash, 42k mtts, 3k rakeback. Easily my best month this year, i doubt very much i surpass this and to be fair, if i break even for the rest of the year ill be happy
Well kind of..........
This is my best month this year so far and its real nice to get real lucky in a donkament for a change. Ive Only played a couple of hours of poker since sundays win which is a strategical decision. Im resisting the urge to improve on a record month because i feel i will donk some of it back. learning from past experiences and mistakes, i have always, without exception, found that after hitting a good win in an mtt ( which is indeed a rarity ) i usually contract the not so well known poker disease, "winners tilt"
This is a terrible affliction in which the patient plays poker like a total spunk monkey spazz retard, splashing around, donkey rage in its full glory. It ends badly. very badly. In my most severe case i spunked off 6k in 2 hours in playing 500 dollar turbo sngs. Quite why i do this i don't really know. I suspect i must have a raging donkey demon lurking just under my outer playing style that trys to escape at every given opportunity, and an MTT win unleashes said animal
Well not this time, no sir, me and kimbo are off to the big smoke for a couple of days break, well a break with a catch. Ive been invited to 10k sng challenge match at the vic in London on thurs night, all expenses paid. 4k to 1st,then 3k,2k & 1k, Its a 10 man sng, hopefully 9 won't turn up. So a big thanks to team blue sq for the invite
Im really looking forward to it, and a it should be a nice change of scenary from my usual habitat.............
I had a poor week at the tables playing cash, playing a lot of hands, and barely broke even. I Felt a little outplayed and outclassed at times and i ran better than i played to be honest. Things have been going really well at 5/10 over the last 3 months, but i kinda view it as one long shot and im a very prepared to move down in stakes when the inevitable bad patch hits me. I thought this was going to happen last week when i shot up 10k immediately, then dropped 12k in 1 day!
regardevous.......
Im currently at 26k for the month, 3k up on the past week
However the story of the week was my m8 Richies inability to operate a 4 man rowing boat under the influence of a couple of bottles of champagne whilst on a day out in County Durham. Poker wise, i hit a cool score last night on ipoker's big weekly game, the 250k guarantee. You gotta run like god in these sunday majors, and i hit a jamie gold esk run of cards in the closing stages, and nearly everything held up, which to those who know a little about poker, this is as rare as haleys comet.
i ended up heads up with a right plonker, top prize was 50k, 2nd was 27k.
He really was a raw turnip of a player......... but the structure is so bad on ipoker in these things, the game is push fold, prettymuch from start to finish. Hu only lasted maybe 20 hands. If this happened on a site with a better structure,(stars or ftp comes to mind) where we had a little more "wiggle room" , im pretty sure i'd have killed him.
Nice to get through 1134 players to finish second, so i have no complaints obviously. This is my biggest cash of the year so far and means im sitting at over $50k profits for the month.

But more importantly, i bought this bad boy on saturday. Caught the 6.09 am train from blackpool to brigthon, and drove it home. I had visions of being stuck on the m6, with it overheating, no rac/aa cover, but it never skipped a beat all the way home. Ive never had so many looks in any car ive ever had. Not for the opposite sex though, just any bloke over 35 seemed to be hypnotised by it . lol

The pictures are a little flattering to be fair. The car needs total ground up restoration. My original plan was to get on some college course and do it myself. but its too big a job for a beginner, so im going to enrole in a mechanics course and get the professionals to do the big bits while im learning, starting with brakes and suspension, then its in for a bare metal respray. Im aiming at xmas for it to be taking shape. pictures to follow

Enjoying a really good start to july, i have no idea how because for the most of the week i played bloody awful. Got more hands in than normal(16k).This is mainly because i played more on pokerstars. The slickness of software and re sizable tables means i can play 8-9 rather than the usual 6-7. They got a great promo on in july so ill prolly be playing a majority of my poker there for most the month.
Been getting a bit fed up of poker at the moment. I play around 30 hours a week total, so i have plenty of free time on my hands and need another hobby or business etc. Something to fill a gap basically. So im planning on buying a classic motor car, taking a car restoration course, and doing it up. I got this one in my sights at the moment. A 1970 ford escort pimp mobile. Its on ebay, ending this weekend, current price of £3600, i'll definately be bidding on it, so fingers crossed.
