Poker has a habit of dramatically twisting your mental state. In december i hit a 30k, 50 buyin downswong, Needless to say i felt like a shocking player. As a result, in january, i banned myself from playing 5/10 and decided to play lower in an effort to steady the ship. In february i broke even at over 100k hands 2/4. Then lift off, with March, April and May all returning +20k months.
So in my mini journey i went from decent to donk and back to decent all in 5 months. Until now its never crossed my mind to have a shot at nosebleeds, ive always been a bit scared of them, with good reason. The players are shit hot /end of.
Now i should end this post, and abandon this dumb idea after that last sentence. But that aint gonna happen. The time is coming to donate to HSNL
Its niggling at me. Im thinking if i never take the odd shot im never going know. After all i got to 5/10 pretty quickly by taking shots early in my career, and enjoyed a good long run there for almost 10 months until the wheels fell off in december. Also the degenerate in me wants to put 10k on a single hand. I want the buzz of a shot. What if i double up to 20k. What if i win 4 buy ins at 50/100. Thats 40k . Just plain greed i suppose and there no point pretending its about anything else. Greed and Glory. GG NH me
My game might have some leaks but bankroll mgt is my number 1 strength. Im very cautious with my dolla, probably over cautious, as i have now have over 300 buy ins set aside for when it rains (not online of course. fxxk you hack monkeys). I realise this is OTT but i think one of the the biggest problems a player faces is funding. Funding to last out a huge downswing. Ive built up a large roll for insurance purposes. To minimise the chance of living in a town called busto. My worst nightmare is going broke and signing up with bad beat, giving up 50% my winnings and forfeiting any rakeback, having my acount stripped searched every day, and answering to a mentor when i tilt off a stack or 2.
So i carry this excessive bankroll. It helps me play better knowing im well funded
THE STAB-
the shot will be 1 buy in only for 10k. I lose it, game over
stakes will be 50/100 on full tilt
the shot will only happen when i hit 25k profits for the month.
I figure if im in profits for 25k, then i can afford it. At present im on 8k, so it might happen this month depending how stuff pans out
when i do it, ill blog the time im going to do it so anyone can pop over and have a butchers and watch the carnage.
Ill be pretty nervous so no monkeying around on the rail telling me i got AIDS pls

Why exactly, $50/100? What's wrong with taking a shot at, say $25/50? You sound like a guy who is looking to cheat on his wife, thinking it's okay to score with that hottie you have been lusting after forever, thinking it will only be one time.
Sounds like a recipe for disaster to me. I understand that taking some shots are necessary, but how exactly do you determine your long term effectiveness at such a high jump? What happens if your AA gets cracked for $10k against KK on the very first hand? Will you still jump back down or reload in a massive bout of tilt? At this point in time, if you make such an extraordinary leap in stakes, you WILL be the mark at the table. That is how those guys make a living, against wealthy amateurs or successful smaller stakes players getting in way over their heads.
I don't think for a second that I could possibly change your mind, but best of luck if you choose to go ahead with it.

if i lose it, then thats it, ill drop back down. like i say im pretty tight with my roll. i wont be chasing it if i lose my one buy in.
i think i deserve a shot. ive played 1 million hands in 12 months and in context this shot represents around 3-10% of my annual earnings depending how the year pans out
if i lose the buy in the damage would set me back maybe a month but the upside is it could very well make my year.
and yeah your right, ill be the mark at the table.
i know skipping a couple of levels is dumb but its sexy.
thnks for your comments chaps
now wheres this hottie you mention?

Taking a shot with 1 buy in sounds pretty much like flipping a coin. How about putting whatever you make over and above the $20k mark each monmth aside and then taking that shot when you have 4 or 5 buyins? GL whatever you do.

hi mike,
i dont see myself as a high stakes pro, so doubt ill be donating on a regular basis. i see it more as a one off shot with a cheeky smile on my face.
on 15k for the month atm, 10 more then bring it on bitches

Whatever you go with, i hope it works for you mate! Sounds like its well thought and planned. Thats 99% of the battle, now for the minor issue of the HSNL Donks to crush!

Hi man, I can see that you have some of the best results of online poker tournaments and cash games...I would like to invite you to take a look at poker staking if you want to be staked at any live events or some big buy-in tournaments. Don't forget that the WCOOP has already been announced. Take a look at the sticky post on my site www.sharkandfishpoker.com
